Worked as advertized July 20, 2010 Ken I recently used this product with my old SD1000 on a snorkeling trip in Hanauma Bay, Hawaii. The pictures of the fishes and snorkelers are fantastic. The only draw back is when switching between taking pictures below water and above water. You have to look out for water droplets that still stick to the front of the lens cover. These droplets will distort your image. Other that, the product performed extremely well without any water leakage.
Good for price July 15, 2010 travelgurl I purchased this product for an upcoming trip to Mexico to swim with whale sharks. The product did keep my camera waterproof, however even though I ordered the correct case to fit my camera it was VERY loose. This caused a black ring around my photos if I did not hold the camera in the correct position. This is very hard to do in a rough sea.
Good value June 24, 2010 Michael R. Davis (Raleigh, NC) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Good value. As other reviews have referenced, it's rather difficult to keep the camera centered in the lens well. If the camera gets off center, you will loose part of the photo. I used it running the rapids through the Grand Canyon, where you tend to think about things other than centering the camera in the case. After some practice, I developed a technique for holding the camera/case that produced good results. I never had any problems with water or sand getting inside the case. It was easy to clean the lens cover and the case held up well over a week on the river. It's a lot less expensive than buying a high end case or waterproof camera.
Great Product June 23, 2010 William Noar 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used this product while snorkeling in Kauai with my Canon SD1000. This worked very well and the video produced by my camera were excellent and very clear. Only thing I would say as a negative is the pouch is quite a bit larger then the camera so it does move arround a bit while in there. Another thing is that the buttons on my camera are a little tough to push or slide the switch to change modes while in the pouch. I kinda expected these limitation by reading some of the other reviews but for the $ this is a great product and I highly recommend it. This is going to save me a ton of $ from buying waterproof disposable cameras. Having video while snorkeling is so much more fun.
Excellent value for money June 23, 2010 David Watson-jones (Suwanee, GA) I recently purchased this for use with my Canon SD1000. The comments about the case being a bit large for the camera may be true, but with a little care I had no problem positioning the camera to take great pictures and was even able to change options and shooting modes underwater. I actually took this scuba diving several times and on one dive took it down to over 50 feet with no leaks, although at that depth the case was so compressed that it pressed the case against the camera holding down the shutter button causing a temporary error (which was resolved by simply going shallower). My point being that if you follow the instructions on how to place your camera in the case and remove it you should have no problems using it snorkelling or even scuba diving to around 40 feet. If you are looking for a waterproof camera case for professional quality photos, buy the expensive molded cases designed for your camera, but if you just want to be able to waterproof your digital camera for some holiday snaps then I can whole heartedly recommend this product.
