Amazon.com Product Description -- Posted May 22, 2008 Protect your iPod inside Pelican Products' crush-proof, weather-resistant i1010 Case. It's perfect for those with more rugged lifestyles. Splash it, drop it in a river, no problem--your iPod stays safe. The key to this water-resistant iPod Case is its tough, high-impact polycarbonate shell and rubber liner. When closed, the lid creates a tongue-and-groove fit with the shock-absorbing rubber liner, which doubles as an o-ring. The single latch is made of strong ABS plastic with stainless steel pins, which keeps the case closed after drops and hard knocks. The i1010 is engineered with a special external headphone jack that allows users to protect their iPods while playing. It also features a molded rubber compartment that fits and protects the iPod nano, iPod shuffle, and all generations of the iPod classic. The lid has plenty of space to for storing earphones or cables. The case also features a detachable reflective integrated strap loop for tying to backpacks/etc. The i1010 Case is backed by Pelican's Lifetime Guarantee. One of the best ways to protect your iPod! July 8, 2010 JosiahB. Pelican for years has been making cases and other items for divers over the years. They make some of the world's strongest cases and this case is one of their best. This case holds the iPod classics, nanos, and shuffles(including the 2 Gen), nice and snug. The case also has a pocket in the lid for holding headphones. The case has a good tight seal to keep out liquids. The case says it is water resistant only, but I decided to place the case in a sink full of water(with out the ipod), and not a drop was found inside inside.
great case March 29, 2010 Maggie Mae 88 (Downeast Maine) Great case fir I-Pods if you are a paddler and don't want your I-Pod wet.
What's better for your iPod - Pelican i1010 or Otter Box? March 16, 2010 LEE (Seattle, WA United States) In a side-by-side comparison, the Otter Box appears to be a better waterproof or water-resistant case for an iPod. The Otter Box is much thinner than the Pelican i1010 and the iPod's scroll wheel can be used when the Otter Box case is closed. There is, however, a serious drawback to the Otter Box in that it's designed for a specific model. For example, I have a Otter Box for a 20GB iPod. When I upgraded to a 80GB iPod Classic, it would not fit my Otter Box so it became a useless dinosaur. Unlike the Otter Box, the Pelican i1010 fits my 80GB iPod Classic so it also fits most other iPods including the Shuttle and Nano (NOT the iTouch, there's a different Pelican for the iTouch). This means if I switch between different models of iPods, I can still use the same Pelican i1010. It won't become a dinosaur like my Otter Box. If for some reason I find myself no longer using an iPod, I can pull out the liner and use the Pelican i1010 as a small general-purpose waterproof box. I've been using the Pelican i1010 to protect my iPod when I sea kayak and it works flawlessly. I thought about buying a cheaper waterproof "dry bag" for iPods, but it didn't offer the same rugged construction of a Pelican to protect my iPod. In an overview of all pros and cons, the Pelican i1010 wins compared to the Otter Box.
One tough case September 12, 2009 Lori Blain (Las Vegas) Like all Pelican products this case it a very secure way to carry whatever precious thing you want to protect. While it is designed for an iPod I bought it for my small digital camera. I did not need the connective device tucked inside but it still protects my tiny camera. I always trust Pelican. You can spend less but you will get less.
Too big and bulky. January 10, 2009 T. LeMoine 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
My husband is an avid runner. I thought this product would be nice for him to use when he exercises outside in the rain (and when he sweats). I wanted him to be able to strap it to his arm so he wouldn't have to carry anything in his hands but water, but unforutunately, this item is very big and bulky. I was expecting it to be more dainty and light. However, it does what is says it does well, so if you don't mind carrying around a miniture metal brief case, I say go ahead and get it!
